SCSC Food Sales

On the 16th of August 2012, SCSC held a one-day Food Sales. We were selling hand-made sushi, hot from the pan fried ice-cream and freshly baked colourful-designed cupcakes. The food sales were held at the Energy Hub from 9.30am till 2.30pm where the newly joined members were here to help to run the food sales. Besides, this was eventually a great opportunities for the new members to be able to bond with the senior members and had fun together.

We arrived at the booth at 8.30 which was well-decorated with effort the night before the food sales by Netty, Mona and their friends.

Upon waiting the other members to arrive, we started to arrange the cupcakes toppings, fold boxes, roll sushi, and heating up the oil for fried ice-cream. At the beginning, the sales was not going well, maybe most of the students were having classes. Surprisingly, sales were increasing around 12.30pm where we sold out all of our sushi. We expected to sell more since the demand for sushi was high unfortunately we are running out of rice and mayonnaise to make it. There was a customer suggested to sell sushi with ‘wasabi’.

As the sales were going on, the cup cakes and fried ice-cream begin to be selling fast and we also received good comments on the fried ice-cream, especially the chocolate flavour. Some VU lecturers also complimented on the delicate decorated cupcakes with the rainbow coloured icing and various toppings such as marshmallows, jelly bean, choco chip and frosty sugars. A few seniors with experience in food sales walked around the campus persuading and promoting our food. Besides, the junior were quite helpful.  As time passed, the cupcakes were sold out and so as the fried ice-cream. The food sales closed at 2pm, earlier than what we expected because we sold out all. Indeed, all our food was yummy and tantalizing. As quickly as we could, everyone cleaned up the booth and packed up all the equipments.

By then, it ended at 2.30pm. The food sales were a great success, with great teamwork and great effort from all SCSC members! Ms Greeja, the head of department also suggested us to organise another food sales next semester.

Laser Tag

After all the educational talks, SCSC club decides to promote the club in a different perspective. Hence, laser tag competition is planned. Announcements and posters are made, ensuring the awareness of all students in the university. Students who are interested are to call Yap Zhi Ruo and Saw Sher Ying. The event is held on the 18th of May 2012 at Laser Warzone IOI mall, Puchong at the price of RM40 for 3 games. The trip is opened to public and on that day itself, everyone is gathered at the foyer in Sunway University. Clubs representatives volunteered to drive all participants to the event area. Upon arrival, briefing was given to ensure all participants focuses primarily on safety rather than fun. Teams of 2 are divided and strategies are discussed. The first 2 games are team shooting based on the overall summation of points scored by team members. While the third game is played in the objective of free for all.  The overall shooting is tremendously fun and tiring. After all 3 games, the winning team received 5 Subway coupon vouchers worth RM50. Subsequently after the match, all of the participants went for tea in Subway IOI mall. Quality time of fellowship and getting to know one another among the new friends are encouraged. The environment is filled with joy and laughter. Following that, when everyone finished their food, bags are packed and everyone leaves with a wide smile on their faces. Overall, it was a success for SCSC in organizing a competition for the first time.
