Team Building - C'est La Vie!

As old members leave and new members enter SCSC, an ice-breaking session is called for. And what better way to break the ice is by Team Building. As for every team building ever organized, this year’s SCSC Team Building Semester 1 2017 theme was “C’est La Vie”.
“C’est La Vie” is a rather famous French expression which translates to English as “That’s Life”. Why we choose this theme? Our main objective for this team building is to create an everlasting bond within our members. With future events that SCSC will organize, conflicts among ourselves are bound to happen. This team building will teach us that every incident that will happen can be resolved by a simple phrase. “C’est La Vie!”

Day 1
9am, 30 members of SCSC gathered at Sunway University. After the members registered and settled down, Team Building officially commenced!
The first activity we conducted was a simple ice-breaking session. The purpose of this event was to allow the members to get to know each other better and to develop the first bonding experience. Throughout the whole session, the members had a good time.

After ice breaking, our team organized a special surprise birthday celebration for the January, February, March, April and May babies! As you can see in the photos, the members thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well.

After a quick lunch, we departed from Sunway University and started to make our way to OUTBAC Broga. Once the members checked-in and settled down, we began our first activity at OUTBAC Broga! As part of the package deal we did with OUTBAC Broga, the first activity was entirely conducted by them. Overall, the activities planned by them were excellent. Raft-building was particularly the most fun and memorable one.

As we were getting tired and hungry after the first activity. The members were given two hours to rest, shower and have dinner. Dinner was served by the OUTBAC Broga team.
With food in our belly and our body rested, it was time for Night Games! The activities for the night consists of ‘One Two Jus Fight’, ‘Musical Chairs’, and other Group Games. The purpose for these activities were to encourage members to have team work, coordination and communication instill in them. As added encouragement for them to do their best, the losing team will receive a hefty punishment.

Before we ended the night, supper was provided by team building team.

Day 2
After a light breakfast, we kicked-off the day with Flying-Fox and Wall climbing activities. These activities served as a platform for our members to conquer their fears as some of them were afraid of heights.

During break time, some of the members went kayaking.

Besides that, another group activity was conducted by team building team. These activities were based on the ideas of the Amazing Race. The members were divided into groups and then competed among themselves with station games. At each station, each group will have to collect clues in order to win the game.

After lunch, it was time for water games. Our objective for this game is for the members to be WILD and be FREE!!

Moving on to next activity was finance game trial. We tested out the flow of our upcoming event which is "Risk it, Win it" and wanted our members to have a clearer understanding on this game. The last activity for Day 2 was a Sharing Session. The topic for this sharing session was “Do you regret for something you did do?/Do you regret for something you did not do?”. All the members were required to share their stories. Most of the stories shared were emotional or funny. But most important of all, it was a chance for the members get to know each other a little more. The night ended with us having our supper and our hearts felt warm.

Day 3
It was an early rise for us as we were preparing to climb Broga Hill. One of the perks of staying in OUTBAC Broga was the hill is literally at the backyard of the campgrounds. Naturally, we would want to climb Broga Hill as well! We left the campgrounds at 5.30am to start the climb.
After climbing for 1.5 hours, we finally reached the top! It was a wonderful experience to witness the sunrise at the top of the hill.
After a short rest and a quick brunch, it was time for souvenirs. This souvenirs were created by the organizing team. It was to represent a small token of our appreciation for our members participating this team building event.

After packing up, it was time to check out of OUTBAC Broga. We departed from Broga and arrived back at Sunway University around noon.

Every member has their own opinions, feelings and morals. This team building encourages all of us the set aside those differences and forces us to work together as a team. After all, the reason why we join SCSC is to experience to feeling of ‘Ohana’. Like family members, there would be conflicts. But ultimately, like a family we would like for what’s best for each other.
The team building overall was a success. Our theme “C’est La Vie” serves a greater purpose in achieving teamwork and instill the importance of togetherness among us. Not only that, the members had created an everlasting bond full of memories during this team building event. We all went home with a big smile on our face.
