Industrial Visit To Bursa Malaysia

On 8th of March 2013, Sunway CPA Australia Student Charter (SCSC) organized an industrial visit to Bursa Malaysia. This trip was catered only to VU students of which the participants totaled up to 88 people.  Much preparation was done prior the event date by the members of SCSC Club to ensure the smoothness of the trip. On the day itself, participants came joyfully, prepared to enjoy and learn from this valuable experience. Most students were on time. The departure time was at 1.30 pm and the arrival time was around 2pm.

Upon arrival, the staffs of Bursa Malaysia, welcomed us with open hands and led us to the discussion room for a briefing session. Miss Claire enlightened the participants with information in relation to the securities exchange and the investing market environment. After presenting the basket of fruits as token of appreciation to Miss Claire, a Q&A session was opened up to the participants and was well utilized.

After the briefing, Bursa Malaysia provided light refreshments for the participants such as sandwiches, coffee and tea.

The participants were then brought to a room where part of the history of Bursa Malaysia is explained with visual aid. A big screen showing the flow of share price is situation in the middle of the room.

This is followed by a tour to the library of Bursa Malaysia. Participants were presented with a variety of financial books and magazines which was quite interesting especially to those majoring in banking & finance.

Last but not least, we were directed to the outside part of Bursa Malaysia building and were showed the sculpture of buffalo and bear, learning the hidden meaning of it. With that, we ended our visit to Bursa Malaysia.

As a whole, the objective of this trip was to provide VU students with the opportunity to gain insight knowledge of Bursa Malaysia, at the same time promoting and raising awareness about SCSC Club. Feedbacks from majority participants were positive and satisfying and will be use as reference to improve on our next industrial visit. To Bursa Malaysia, SCSC Club would like to present our utmost gratitude for this valuable opportunity and we hope that we will have opportunity to cooperate again in the future.
