This Team Building was aim to train team spirit and ignite passion in every SCSC member. The objectives were to foster stronger relationship, cohesiveness and build team rapport among committee members, to ignite passion to achieve personal and professional fulfilment and success, to discover the importance of communicating ideas and experiences among members to accomplish goals, to get committee members out of their comfort zone to learning, creating and growing, and establish a positive team culture and develop a trusting environment. Unlike the previous team building, this team building has a theme which is “OHANA”: Ohana means family and family means no one left behind.

There were 29 of SCSC members joined in this activity. The 3 days 2 nights event started from the gathering and briefing at foyer by 7.30am. After a 4 hours ride, the team reached Tanah Rata safely by 12.30pm. A walk in the tea farm refreshed everyone’s mind. After check in, the team went for lunch in Gossip Corner. The ice-breaking and trust activity started at 3pm. “Tissue blowing”, “Sticker war” and “Merry go round” had been played in the field nearby BB Holiday Home before it rains. The game shifted into the living room of the house. “Step Up” is a game for members to come out with a solution to stand up at the same time. This game took some time as it is a hard task to balance their weight and to discuss the solution.  “Trust circle sit” required all members to sit on each other lap in a circle and to walk at least 5 steps. This game let the members organize each other to balance and support each other’s weight. Next, “I Trust You” needs everyone to close their eyes and fall from a bench. This activity aimed to build trust among members other than bringing the message of ‘we are always supporting each other’.  After a short break, the team walk to Ferm Nyonya Restaurant to have their dinner. Game II which focus on “teamwork” starts shortly after. There were 3 main games in this activity which name “Blindfold Queue”, “Human Knot” and “You Jump, I Jump”. “Blindfold Queue” basically blindfolded members and mix them up in the garage of the house. Then, they have to line up from the oldest to the youngest. They were all shouting and making noise before they decided to let one person speaks only. This game not only let everyone know each other birthdates but also aimed to let members know that it is important to listen to the instructions. Everyone was holding different people hands and they are required to untie the knot to make a circle without letting go anyone’s hand in “Human Knot”. “You Jump, I Jump” needs members to help each other to get from a place to the opposite place by crossing a string which shaped like a spider web. At this point, everyone was in the mood and understood the meaning of teamwork. They made a fast decision to appoint few strong guys to go to the opposite first so that they can help to carry the girls and other guys across. The night ended with fun and laughter at 12am.

Lunch Time !

The second day began with a surprise morning call from committee members at 7am. Members were given only 5 minutes to clean up before going for a morning run around the neighbourhood. After the run, everyone gathered in the field for morning dance. The dance of “Louder” and “Xi Shua Shua” were led by committee members. Despite the low volume of songs from the laptop, everyone enjoyed themselves in the cute and fun dance. After a light breakfast, the team building continued with Game III, Treasure Hunt. There were 7 small games played by dividing members into 4 groups. The group which won the small game will get one hint for the ‘treasure’. After all the games, members were required to discover the ‘treasure’. The treasure that committee members set was only a piece of paper writing the word “We Love SCSC”. The committee members want to remind every member that actually SCSC has its own treasure and it is within each and every member. The spirit and togetherness of SCSC is the precious treasure. This strong and powerful treasure can make the team grow stronger regardless what challenges await. After the meaningful game session, lunch was served. The team went to Big Red Strawberry Farm in Brinchang after a 2 hours rest. It was a relaxing and wonderful trip to the strawberry farm because they enjoyed few desserts on strawberry as well as enjoying the mesmerising view. The second dinner of team building was steamboat at home. A warm steamboat in the cold night warms everyone body as well as heart. Members were all bonded well at this moment. Chit chat and jokes surrounds the house and everyone were so close to each other just like family members. The last activity of the team building was sharing session. In this session, everyone need to share with each other about the high and low of their life. Through this heart-to-heart talk, members were shocked, proud, and sad for some of the life experiences of each other’s stories. All 29 SCSC members were crying together, laughing together and hugging each other so tight after the session. This was the best part of the team building because it made all of the members understands each other more and this bonded everyone well. The lights went off at 2am after a light supper and pillow talk.

Everything has its end. Finally, it is the last day of Team Building Sem 2 , 2014. The morning started with a few members who woke up earlier. Without any doubt, they start to prepare breakfast for others who are still in their sleep. The closing ceremony and photo session started at 10.30am. Reviews of the team building were given by members to committee members to understand their strength and mistakes that they did. The last lunch of the team building was had in Gossip Corner as well. Everyone was mixing around and taking pictures before the event ends officially. The team departs from BB Holiday Home at 1.45am and reached Sunway University at 7pm.

In conclusion, this team building was successfully done and the aim of training team spirit and ignite passion were achieved. Through this event, the members are closer to each other and the bond among them had been so strong that they are a strong family now. The Team Building Committee Members want to thanks every member for their cooperation and understanding throughout the event.
