Stress Free Carnival

In conjunction with the International Stress Awareness Month in April, SCSC has organised the Stress Free Carnival to promote awareness among Sunway students. It was held on 29th and 30th of April at Energy Hub from 9.30 am to 4.00pm. The objective of this carnival is to help students to de-stress themselves from their assignments, tests and examinations. Stress is part of everyday life and it can be beneficial. However it is of great importance that students are able to identify, handle and manage their stress level accordingly. Stress Free Carnival includes the booths:

  • ‘Buy Ticket for Them’
Our objective is to bring the underprivileged children from ‘House of Joy’, which is located in Puchong, to watch the movie ‘The Amazing Spiderman 2’. The purpose is to take the orphans out to experience and watch movie in cinema, complement with popcorns and drinks. Public who are interested in this activity donated RM10, representing buying a ticket for a child.

  • Confession Board (Combat Your Stress)
It is a platform for the students to confess anything regarding to their studies and etc in order to release their tension.

  • Game Booth - ‘Slap the Book’ (Compliment and Congratulate Yourself)
This is a Free of Charge game whereby participants just have to hit the books on the tables in order to flip over the coins to win a Chupa Chups lollipop for themselves. The participants were having a great fun to unwind themselves.

  • Food Sales Booth (Relax and Recharge)
We sell fried ice-cream and banana chocolates with cornflakes, colour rice or almonds as toppings. The fried ice-cream comes in 2 flavours which are Yam and Chocolate. The desserts were yummy and delicious. Most patrons were totally indulged with the hot seller- fried ice-cream.

On 30th of April, 123Cheese which is a mobile photo booth company came in and joined us at this carnival. Their colourful backdrops and funky props attracted the crowds to post and take pictures. This photo booth has certainly allowed the students to capture their memorable moments at university with their buddies and friends.

Overall, the carnival was a great success and SCSC obtained positive responses from the Sunway students. It is an honour for SCSC to organise such event to help out the students to release their stress. Everyone has great fun, food and laughter where the objective of the event is achieved. SCSC would like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants for their generous support to make this event a successful one.

Thank you very muchie! =)

Industrial Visit to Leaderonomics

On the 21st March 2014, Sunway CPA Australia Student Charter (SCSC) had successfully organised an industrial visit for Sunway students to Leaderonomics. The SCSC members had devoted a lot of effort in ensuring that this event will run smoothly. Besides that, special thanks to Leaderonomics for their cooperation as well as their generosity for hosting this visit.

Leaderonomics is a social enterprise with a sole purpose of transforming nations through leadership development. Their vision is to seek to nurture people into leaders, develop affectionate communities, and transform human societies. It is centred on helping everyone to build their leadership capabilities and helping them to grow into community leaders that make a difference in the world. They strongly believe that leadership will help transform communities and societies into a better, fairer and more caring society.
Address: Suite 9.08 & 9.09, Block E, Phileo Damansara 1, 9 Jalan 16/11, 46350 PJ
Phone: 03-79575809/5804
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Leaderonomics?fref=ts

During the visit, Leaderonomics welcomed us with joyful arms and led us to their main office. The staff-in-charge, Ms Nadia guided us around their office for a tour to which the participants were fascinated about the office’s surroundings and atmosphere of the other staff members doing their work. Furthermore, the speakers of this company, Mr Andrew Lau and Ms Ang Hui Ming generously provided the students with many helpful information and knowledge about their victorious company.

After the short briefing, Leaderonomics has  kindly prepared a satisfying lunch, i.e. Domino’s Pizza for us to fill our tummies. After lunch, some special activities was arranged for us and we were then broken down into groups. One of the activities was a task given on how to secure sponsorship to fund our projects to be carried out for the youths in Leaderonomics’ Community Centre. All of us truly enjoyed the games and had a good time in brainstorming the ideas. The activities has certainly amplified students’ soft skills such as communication skills, conflict resolution, strategic thinking, team building, creative problem solving and etc. At the end of the visit, SCSC (along with our dearest lecturer, Ms Anita) presented a basket of fruits as a token of appreciation to the head manager of Leaderonomics, Mr Andrew Lau.

In conclusion, the objective of this field trip was achieved, i.e. to provide Sunway students with an insight knowledge of the business world. Positive feedbacks were given by majority of the participants while negative feedback was noted down to improve our next industrial visit. Once again, SCSC would like to thank Leaderonomics for this knowledgeable and yet memorable visit; and of course, not forgetting our supportive participants who have been very sporting in this visit. :)

Eat, Laugh, Share 2.0 Food Sales

The Eat, Laugh, Share 2.0 Food Sales of SCSC Sunway University is back! If you happened to pass by the Energy Hub of Sunway University and wondered what was it that smells so good and makes you drool, that must be us! On the 17th September 2013, we SCSC had our one day food sale at Energy Hub from 10am to 5pm. The food that were on sales included cookies, satay, sushi roll, banana chocolate sandwich and our best seller, FRIED ICE-CREAM.

The SCSC minions (becuase we're all in yellow shirt) stand by by 8am and start working hard and getting ready for the food sales. We were to set up the venue by ourselves. All thanks to our members who are gym regulars, we got our table set up in less than 30 minutes. We pay extra attention on hygiene by making sure that everyone has gloves on and clean all the tables and equipments before we use them. We don't want anyone got stomach ache after having our food! Members who in charged of the food were like the participants in Master Chef, being so passionate and serious about their task! Hmm, guess there was a competition happening secretly among the members who in charged of the food! Which team will come up with the best sales?
If you were there, we bet you will love the fried ice-cream as it was SOLD OUT in less than 2 hours. Who doesn't love ice-cream especially when it was covered by a crispy crust outside and when you bite it, the ice-cream melts immediately in your mouth! You heard you, there will definitely be extra supply of the fried ice-cream in our upcoming food sales!
We hope you find our new coupon system that we just implemented in this food sales much more better than what we did last time. You may found our system a little bit out of usual but we would like to thank you for your corporation. By making payment at the cashier first and get a coupon to be redeem at the food preparation helps us to be more systematic and able to serve all of you promptly!
There is one thing that we would like to admit, SCSC loves to take photos! So sorry for bombarding you all with our endless group photos because the members will complaint if they don't see their photos up in the blog. In a way, all these photos were memories of all the fun time we had. If you want to be part of us, stay tuned to our facebook page for recruitment announcement!
Once again, SCSC would like thank all of you that supported us in the food sales. We will try our best to improve our recipe for the next food sales and we sincerely hope you will support us throughout! For those who missed the fun, fret not because there will be another food sales coming up soon so stay tuned!
